Lunch Club
YoungLives can seek permission to host lunch meetings in an empty classroom or office during
the school9s lunch periods. YoungLives leaders or other volunteers bring in lunch and provide
programming such as a speaker or discussion about parenting topics. The administrators invite
the teen parents to attend.
Parenting Classes
Some YoungLives ministries are equipped to teach one or more parenting classes for pregnant
and parenting teens during the school day.
Any time you have the chance to provide a lunch club or parenting class, take advantage of the
time that you have to get to know the students personally.
Have them introduce themselves and tell you about themselves.
Call them by name whenever you can.
Try to have a discussion setting rather than classroom setup.
Bring other mentors to introduce whenever possible.
If appropriate, talk about the friendship, fun, adventure, and meaning that YoungLives
offers.
In compliance with any school guidelines for privacy, capture contact information for the
people that attend.
Follow up individually with teen parents by phone or in person soon after meeting them.
