THE YOUNGLIVES
COORDINATOR
Finding the right person to lead the YoungLives ministry in your area is vital to building a healthy
ministry.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A YOUNGLIVES COORDINATOR
A YoungLives Coordinator …
Is passionate about Christ and about sharing Christ with teenagers. Their love for Christ should
be the primary motivation for service.
Supports Young Life’s ministry methods. A YoungLives coordinator is not just passionate about
reaching adolescent parents, but about doing it through the ministry of Young Life.
Recruits, develops, and mobilizes adult volunteers reflective of the community being served.
The coordinator needs to be someone who can mentor and cultivate volunteers into effective
leaders 4 not just someone who loves teenagers and direct ministry.
Leads direct ministry. The YoungLives coordinator is able to run a great club and build relational
connections with adolescent parents.
Is entrepreneurial and a self-starter. The coordinator should be self-motivated, innovative, and
persistent.
Values collaboration. Healthy YoungLives ministries collaborate with committee, area staff,
schools, social workers, community organizations, and churches.
Possesses strong emotional maturity. This role requires emotional maturity and the capacity to
be aware of, manage, and communicate one’s emotions. A YoungLives coordinator must
demonstrate wisdom, sound judgment, and empathy in their interactions.
Commits to developing their personal cultural intelligence. This role also requires skill in relating
and working effectively in culturally diverse situations. It requires commitment to personal
development of understanding and awareness of different cultures to ensure effective and
positive interactions.
Is an effective team leader. The YoungLives coordinator is a visionary who will work alongside and
delegate tasks to support teams, including childcare, mentors, transportation, meals, etc.
Leadership also includes developing adult and community support, raising funds, recruiting and
training mentors, and reaching out to adolescent parents.
